In this installment, the story focused on STORM Corps's mission—to catch the terrorists before innocent people were killed by their bioweapon.

So much happened that I felt like I never had enough time to catch my breath or even process my thoughts. Even in the midst of lethal situations, it was obvious that their sexual tension was through the roof. I found the plot a little far-fetched, but thankfully, the entire story moved along at a brisk pace.

The main characters, Marc and Tara, were not as appealing or entertaining as the other secondary characters. Their romance did me nothing. However, aside from my problem with the main couple, this was a good and enjoyable read overall. On to the next book! View all 25 comments. May 21, Dina rated it liked it Shelves: romantic-suspense. Based on Shoot to Thrill , the 1st book in the series, I knew I had to suspend disbelief to enjoy this read.

I had no problem with that - in fact, this book wasn't as far-fetched as the one. Bruhns knows how to write action scenes. As far as I can tell, she's got the military lingo right - but I'm no expert - and even though I knew the good guys would win in the end, she's kept me on the edge of my seat. The torture scenes were nasty but less cringe-worthy than the ones in the 1st Based on Shoot to Thrill , the 1st book in the series, I knew I had to suspend disbelief to enjoy this read. The torture scenes were nasty but less cringe-worthy than the ones in the 1st book - not that I'm complaining.

Overall, I really enjoyed the suspense in this book. Now, the romance I'm sorry to say, it didn't work that well for me. It was all too much and none of them had enough "screen time" to be developed the way they should have been. The way it was, Ms. Bruhns couldn't make me connect with any of the characters. Besides the three romances, there was also another storyline going on: Gina's. Her story started in the 1st book and it wasn't finished in this 2nd book, so I guess I'll have to read the next book to find out how it will end.

All in all, this wasn't a bad read. It was too busy and crowded, which prevented me from getting to know and understand the characters well enough to love them, but it has its fun moments. Thanks Shawna, for pimpin' these books!

As I said, this is a continuation of the last book, but the difference is that this time, the terrorist attack is planned to take place here in the US. I love it when an author can take me from one book to the next with the characters becoming more and more important to me, and being so invested in them, I really want to see solve the mystery and find their happily ever afters. There is action, drama, sex, intrigue, heartache, sex, suspense and more sex.

Edited to add that to really enjoy these books, they really need to be read in order. The books in this trilogy and their reading order are: 1. Shoot to Thrill 2. If Looks Could Chill 3. A Kiss to Kill View all 10 comments. Holy Moly! What a ride. If Looks Could Chill picked up right where Shoot to Thrill left off, so be sure to read this series in order. Most of the book was set in Louisiana. Some funny scenes between these two as Marc tried to order Tara around--not.

Some really intense moments and more than a few times I became annoyed when the scene shifted to something else. What about the mysterious Gregg van Halen? You'll have to read and find out. Didn't see THAT coming. They had been in an "affair" sex only and maybe not entirely exclusive for the past 5 years until one of them realized they cared more for the other Fast paced and not everything was resolved which had me starting and almost half finished with 3 in this series before I stopped and took a moment to write this review.

Very hot.
